Vittatus

Centruroides vittatus

On a recent collecting trip a friend and I collected 6 scorpions. These scorpions turn out to be Centruroides vittatus. The longest one is about 1 maybe 1 1/2 inches, and the smallest is about 1/2 an inch. This type of scorps can live together so I have them housed in a medium sized round Kritter Keeper.

These are my favorite scorpions I have. I have a group of rocks on side, which is where, during the day they hide. Except one. One always is out off the rocks. It kind of looks like it is on guard. When I put a water dish in there with them the "guard" scorp. started to sit right on top of it. It is not the same scorpion on guard all the time. At night they all come out to hang out and eat.
